Twelve days on the Everest trail with four of us, two in our fifties. What sold me afterwards was not the view, it was that the guide made my nephew rest a full day at Dingboche when he was struggling. He was up at Kala Patthar two days later. Every lodge was booked before we arrived and nobody once asked us for extra money on the trail.

Twenty-six of us including three grandparents. The Jomsom flight was cancelled and the jeeps were already arranged, which tells you everything. Pure vegetarian food at every stop including the travel days, and the temple visit was planned early so there was no queue and no wind. I have done this yatra twice before and this was the first time nothing went wrong.

I asked about Everest Base Camp and they talked me into Annapurna instead, for my fitness and the time I had. That is not what a company chasing the bigger sale does. The Sanctuary in the morning is the best thing I have seen. The stairs are as bad as they warned me, so at least nobody lied about that either.
