Trishuli River
- Region Between Kathmandu & Pokhara
- Typical trip Half day – 2 days
- Best time September – December, March – May
The Trishuli runs alongside the Kathmandu–Pokhara highway, which makes it the easiest rafting in Nepal to actually fit into a trip. You do not detour for it — you stop on the way through.
Grades vary with the season, and it is generally considered a good river for first-timers while still being genuinely fun. Half a day is the usual, with overnight riverside camps available if you want to stretch it.
Highlights
- Beginner-friendly rapids Enough white water to be exciting without needing any prior experience.
- No detour needed It sits on the road you were already driving between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
- Riverside camps Sandy beach camps with a bonfire, for the overnight version.
- Works for families Older children handle the standard stretch well with the right operator.

Travel tips
- Water levels change the grade a lot — tell us your group's appetite and we will pick the stretch.
- Bring a change of clothes and a dry bag; you will get soaked, not splashed.
- Avoid peak monsoon, when the river runs high and trips are often cancelled.
- Non-swimmers can raft with a life jacket, but say so in advance so the guide knows.
