Sunita Tamang

Yatra logistics, temple protocol and a group of forty kept together

Leads our Muktinath yatras - Hindi throughout, vegetarian arranged, and darshan timed for the quiet hour.

Specialities

  • Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage
  • Large group handling
  • Temple protocol

About Sunita Tamang

Sunita has run pilgrim groups up the Kali Gandaki for a decade, most of them from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and she is the reason our Muktinath trips work as well as they do with large families and elderly travellers.

She plans the darshan for early morning before the wind and the queue, arranges pure vegetarian food at every stop including the travel days, and knows exactly what to do when the Jomsom flight is cancelled - which it will be, sooner or later.

She speaks Hindi throughout, keeps a headcount that never slips, and has more patience with a group of forty than the rest of us put together.

A yatra is not a tour. Get the darshan right and everything else can be rearranged.

Strengths

  • Large groups Forty pilgrims, one headcount, no one left at a tea stall.
  • Vegetarian, everywhere Pure vegetarian arranged in advance at every stop, including on the road.
  • Plan B ready Flight cancelled means the jeep route, booked, not improvised.

Routes led

  • Muktinath yatra
  • Jomsom and Kagbeni
  • Upper Mustang by jeep
  • Pashupatinath and Boudhanath

Training and certification

  • Nepal Tourism Board trekking guide licence
  • First aid certified, with altitude illness training
  • Fifteen years of Hindi-medium group leadership
  • Restricted area permit handling for Upper Mustang

What travellers say

Twenty-six of us, three grandparents, and not one problem. The darshan at six in the morning was the right call. Shukla parivar, Gorakhpur
Our flight was cancelled and the jeeps were already arranged. That is the difference. Ramesh T., Patna
